ABOUT AMBER

Amber is formed over millions of years from the fossilised resin of ancient trees. About 30 million years ago, large parts of Northern Europe were covered in pine forests and the sticky, aromatic resin from the trees trapped seeds, insects and other debris and preserved them. As geologic time progressed, the forests were buried and the resin hardened into a soft, warm golden gem known as amber. Colours of amber vary from yellow and green tones to rich, dark cognac colours.
